Advanced art supplies require precision and delicacy to use them properly. They need more usual skills than the regular art supplies to use them properly. There are also safety concerns about advanced supplies if not used properly. Let’s look at some of the examples.- Oil Pastels: These types of colorings are akin to crayons but richer in nature. They are made of non drying oil and wax and this gives them a creamy texture. They blend smoothly to give off intense color. They are pretty easy to use compared to other advanced supplies. - Charcoal and Chalk Pastels: As charcoals are made from burning they have a dark texture. This gives a unique deep dark and a variation of grays. They are really good for sketching and creating detailed contrasts and shading. Chalks are made from mineral rocks and mixing them with various colors leads to the creation of chalk pastels. There are also plasticizers, silicone oils, stabilizers,deformers and metal soaps. Even though they are water based they become water resistant after they dry. As they dry quickly they are easy to use to add layers of colors of different intensity. Oil paints take longer to dry but they have a smoother texture to them. They are great at giving depth to the art.
- Ink and Calligraphy Pens: There are various types of ink available such as fountain pen ink, acrylic ink etc. Each type has their own speciality. With a link pen various types of drawing and arts can be done. Calligraphy pens are used to create various types of calligraphy and patterns. - Palette Knives and Special Brushes: Palette knives are great for mixing colors on palette to apply them on canvas. They can create various types of effects and texture which are not possible with brushes such as smearing. Special brushes are used to create different types of stroke from soft to hard strokes. They come in various angles. There are also Filbert brushes which are great for broad works while Rigger brushes are great for delicate precision works.
